Holiday Classics, Music And Laughs Part 2 - Fun Is Waiting To Be Unwrapped This December At The Parker

Audiences will continue to enjoy unwrapping an eclectic mix of holiday favorites the rest of this month at The Parker in the Lillian S. Wells Hall, with classics performed by Debbie Gibson, Arts Ballet Theatre’s enchanting production of “The Nutcracker,” and joyous tunes with electrifying choreography from Broadway performers in Under the Streetlamp: Hip to the Holidays, as well as an exciting lineup that brings the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, laughs from David Sedaris, Brian Regan, Sheng Wang and Lewis Black, a sprinkle of magic from Jen Kramer, and rock music from Alan Parsons, Broadway’s Rock of Ages Band, Zebra and more.

Debbie Gibson: Winterlicious - An Evening of Holiday and Hits brings the recording and Broadway star to The Parker on Friday, December 13th at 8:00 p.m. as part of the Baptist Health Red Carpet Series. After bursting onto the music scene at 16 with "Foolish Beat" as the youngest artist in history to write, produce and perform a number one hit, she has gone on to sell more than 16 million albums and starred in 17 musicals, from Broadway’s “Les Misérables” to the West End’s “Grease.” Her single “Girls Night Out” soared to number four on the U.S. Billboard and UK MusicWeek Charts and her 2021 release “The Body Remembers,” featuring her first original material in 20 years, promptly shot up to number two on the Apple Pop Sales Charts and achieved one million streams in its first month. This holiday season, she will also treat audiences to songs from her 14-track album “Winterlicious,” which delivers a blend of classics and originals.

After having rocked Broadway with more than 10,000 performances in the five-time Tony® Award-nominated show “Rock of Ages,” Broadway's Rock of Ages Band takes the stage as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series in a rescheduled performance on Sunday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. Constantine Maroulis (vocals), who starred as Drew in the original Broadway and national tour productions and earned a Tony nomination for the role, will be part of the all-star Broadway’s Rock of Ages Band that is the force behind "Broadway's Best Party." Playing the greatest rock hits from the glam metal bands of the '80s, this show delivers songs by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister, Joan Jett, Styx and Pat Benatar. Joining Maroulis are Broadway and national tour “Rock of Ages” alumni Tommy Kessler (guitar); Zach “AttAkk” Hennig (guitar); Josephine Rose Roberts (vocals), who starred as “Regina” in the Broadway and National tour productions; Winston Roye (bass); Richard Maheux (keyboards); and Jon Weber (drums). They are considered the greatest group of Rock musicians and singers to ever have graced a Broadway stage.

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida's enchanting production of “The Nutcracker,” choreographed and directed by Artistic Director Vladimir Issaev, is presented as a Smart Stage Matinee on Thursday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. at The Parker. This heartwarming production is a true holiday masterpiece that unwraps a world of wonder where snowflakes, sugarplums and magical dolls come to life, all set to Tchaikovsky's score. This critically acclaimed production showcases the extraordinary talent of the troupe's professional dancers complemented by the joyful participation of talented local children. Perfect for creating cherished memories, “The Nutcracker” is an ideal introduction to the art of ballet, inspiring young audiences and igniting a lifelong passion for dance. Smart Stage Matinee performances are ideal for charter, private, public and parochial school students and home-school networks. These educational performances are curriculum-driven and align with Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards. Free study guides called “Curriculum Connections” are available to download on the Broward Center’s website. Arts Ballet Theatre maintains a very strict late seating policy and latecomers will not be seated until intermission.

Celebrate the most magical time of the year at Jen Kramer's Magical Holiday Show as she transforms the impossible into the impossible-to-ignore as part of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Imagination Series at The Parker on Saturday December 28th at 8:00 p.m. Wowing audiences with her contagious smile and world-class sleight-of-hand, she has performed for audiences around the world and been featured on the television shows “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “Masters of Illusion” and NBC's “Today Show.” Kramer is a member of the Society of American Magicians, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Academy of Magical Arts and Hollywood's world-famous Magic Castle.

Founded in 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and still selling out venues close to 50 years later, Zebra brings its rock sounds to The Parker as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series on Sunday, December 29th at 7:00 p.m. The band has defied all the odds of most rock groups by staying together and continuing to evolve their sound throughout the years. All original members Randy Jackson, Felix Hanemann and Guy Gelso are at the top of their game playing for loyal fans across the country and drawing in a new generation of fans year after year. In 1982, Zebra's self-titled debut album went gold and was the fastest selling debut album in Atlantic Records' history thanks to the radio and MTV airplay of "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door?" In 2010, Zebra was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and is acknowledged as Louisiana's number one rock and roll band by the Louisiana Music Commission.
