Red Phone Booth – one of seven in a growing evolving family of speakeasies in cities such as Atlanta and Nashville – first opened in Brickell in February 2024 and, as designed, with little to no proactive promotion and by virtue of positive, local word of mouth has slowly grown an impressive membership list and is one of the region’s best kept secrets for cocktail (and cigar) supremacy. The code is dialed on the rotary phone inside the red phone booth, the door swings open, and voila! Once inside, a soulful and spirited evening awaits.

The decor is no bore; more on that later but first, the drinks. Guests are presented with a gorgeously-produced cocktail book, featuring drinks broken down by spirit, each entry offering an insightful yet succinct bit about the cocktail, augmented by whimsical pencil sketch illustrations. Complementing the book’s didacticism is the fact that every bartender is as knowledgeable of the drinks’ backstories and origins as they are deft of hand when it comes to making them. “The menu gives cocktailers plenty to choose from but many of our guests love turning the reins over to our bartender,” says CEO Kevin England, who credits RPB’s success to its dedication to hospitality, handcrafted authenticity (be it the hand-carved ice or the freshly squeezed fruit juices) and attention to every detail. “Our bartenders can ask a guest what they like or what they’re in the mood for and craft a cocktail to meet their preferences or palate. Often it is a drink from our menu but it can also be something uniquely crafted by the bartender for that customer in that moment. A visit to Red Phone Booth is not simply a chance to get a drink; it’s an opportunity to unplug, leave the outside world behind and have an experience that stays with you. The concept’s membership book is full of people who came in on random night and were so enthused that they decided they needed access year-round and now Red Phone Booth is a home away from home for them. So many drinks to choose from, so many “prescriptions” (as they were once referenced as) in the following categories: Gin; Scotch, Bourbon and Whiskey; Mezcal and Tequila; Cachaca, Pisco and Rum; Absinthe and Brandy and Cognac. Additional offerings are delineated by geographical place of origin as well as beers, red and white wines by the bottle or glass and, of course, spirits by the bottle for those who like their pours neat. Miami circa 2026 it’s not out of the norm to see cocktails of all kinds priced in the high twenties or beyond; no doubt part of RPB’s allure is the quality of the ingredients, the perfection of the execution and that all signature drinks in the sections above are priced at $16. Beyond the bar offerings that help elevate RPB from the competition is a scratch kitchen offering a menu carefully calibrated to complement the pours, be it a solitary imbiber at the bar kicking it with a Corpse Reviver #2 (gin, Lillet blanc, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice and an absinthe rinse on the glass) and a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail or a group holding court in the XXX room seeking a generous, shareable spread. Pizzas are to-die-for, made with imported Italian flour and cheeses, house-made San Marzano tomato sauce (where applicable), with seven to choose from. Options range from Mushroom & Truffle white pizza and a Spicy Sicilian (lots of delicious meats and a bacon jam) to Bistecca, made with marinated beef tenderloin, Fio Di Latte mozzarella, gorgonzola, arugula, garlic oil and a balsamic drizzle. One pizza is a great sidekick to a cocktail; 1-2 among friends is a party starter. As the saying goes, membership (available at many levels and prices) has its privileges and that is most certainly true here. Associate Memberships run $400 per person per year with the primary payoff being unfettered access year-round to any Red Phone Booth location; the ability to reserve seating, in advance, via the RPB Members App; exclusive membership pricing; invitations to members-only special events; access to the upstairs bar and billiards parlor and the opportunity, should they desire, to rent one of RPB’s spirit and cigar lockers. Arguably, a large part of Red Phone Booth’s magic is the design, which both nods to speakeasies of olde yet embraces modern flourishes that elevates the space to a level of sophistication that makes obvious why all RPB locations embrace a strict dress code. No shorts and flip flops here; in fact, gentlemen sporting a designer T-shirt with jeans might find themselves guided to the coat closet to borrow a sport coat for the evening.

The lighting here is an ambient amber, a warm glow amplified by the hand-painted honey-colored panels in the drop ceiling and the Tiffany wall sconces. Think a library of rich mahogany crossed with plush leather chairs and sofas; electric fireplaces; exposed brick; wood floors and textured area rugs; oil paintings commissioned exclusively for display in RPB locations; vintage glass-enclosed candleholders on every table; iron railings and embellishments, sliding doors of dark wood with louvered shutters panels which allow all rooms to be made private at the drop of a hat.

The entire space consists of multiple rooms, each with their own unique quality and appeal.
