The Our Fund Foundation And The Community Foundation Of Broward Have Awarded A Total Of $300,000 In Grants To 13 NonProfit Organizations Through The 2026 LGBTQ+ Social Justice & Equity Fund.

This strategic partnership brings together the resources, reach and expertise of both foundations to support innovative projects addressing discrimination and disparities impacting the LGBTQ+ community in Broward County.

Grant recipients were honored at a reception hosted at the Community Foundation of Broward on Monday, April 27th, 2026 attended by legacy members and donors to celebrate the impact of the Fund and the continued commitment to advancing equity and inclusion.

“Nationally and here at home, the LGBTQ+ community is in the crosshairs,” said David Jobin, President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation. “Florida is ground zero for harmful policies and funding cuts that threaten our safety and future. We are deeply grateful to our donors who recognize the urgency of this moment and the need for a strong philanthropic response.”

Since its inception in 2022, the collaborative Fund has awarded more than $1.21 Million.

“Philanthropy has the power to bring people together and drive meaningful change, and we are proud to support organizations that are advancing equality and opportunity for the LGBTQ+ Community," said Jennifer O'Flannery Anderson, Ph.D., President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward. "Our role is to help amplify their impact, connecting resources with vision and leadership, so that Broward continues to grow as a place where everyone belongs and can thrive.”

The LGBTQ+ Community in Broward County

According to Gallup, as many as 120,000 Broward County residents identify as LGBTQ+. The area is home to one of the most visible LGBTQ+ communities in the country, with Wilton Manors ranking second among the highest concentrations of same-sex couples in the United States. Locally, grants from the 2026 LGBTQ+ Social Justice & Equity Fund support NonProfits serving diverse age groups and needs, while data from Equality Florida’s Safe Schools Equality Index shows that 15.7% of Florida high school students identify as LGBTQ+, including 4% of students in Broward who identify as transgender. At the same time, the community spans generations. The Stonewall Generation, now in their 70s and older, has demonstrated remarkable resilience through decades of discrimination and the AIDS crisis. By 2030, an estimated 7 million LGBTQ+ adults in the U.S. will be over age 50, according to SAGE, with many facing increased isolation as they are more likely to live alone and less likely to have children than their heterosexual peers.
