Congratulations! Local Student’s Named To University’s Dean’s List

A Dean's List is an academic award, or distinction, used to recognize the level of highest scholarship demonstrated by students in a college or university

It’s that time of year, graduation time. This year’s graduation season has been like no other, due to the Pandemic. Even though the year has been filled with changes, many students, no matter if they were in the first year of college or graduating, kept focused and made some great achievements along the way. Here are a few from Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood and others, that deserve recognition, during such a transformative time.

Dana Barbos - Hallandale Beach
Western New England University (WNE) was pleased to announce that Dana Barbos (JD program) of Hallandale Beach, Florida has been named to the Dean's List for the Spring Semester of 2021. Students are named to the Dean's List for achieving a semester grade point average of a 3.30, or higher.

A model for the "New Traditional University," Western New England University is among just 13% of private (5,000 students or less) institutions ranked among US News and World Report "National Universities" and a "Top 100 Engineering Program." WNE enrolls 3,690 students, including 2,552 full-time undergraduates, in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at its Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, Pharmacy & Health Sciences and School of Law. Meltonique Bowen - Pembroke Pines
Meltonique Bowen of Pembroke Pines, Florida, was named to Lewis University's Dean's List for the 2021 Spring Semester. Bowen is studying Aviation Flight Technology in the College of Aviation Science Technology at Lewis University.

Just over 1,500 students were honored on the Lewis University Dean's List for the 2021 Spring Semester. To be eligible for this honor, student's must have completed a minimum of at least, 12 credit hours during the semester with a grade point average of at least 3.5 and with no "D" or "F" grades.

Ale Coronel-Zegarra - Dania Beach
Ale Coronel-Zegarra of Dania Beach, Florida, has been named to the 2021 Spring Semester Dean's List at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn Dean's List recognition, Ohio Wesleyan student's must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better, on a 4.0 scale, in all applicable classes.

The University of Alabama
A total of 11,813 students enrolled during the Spring 2021 Term at The University of Ala-bama, who made the Dean's List with academic records of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale), or the President's List with academic records of 4.0, (all A's).

The UA Dean's and President's Lists recognize, full-time undergraduate students, the lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students, who, take less than, a full course load.

• Kayla Acevedo of Pembroke Pines, was named to the Dean's List.
• Kiara Jones of Pembroke Pines, was named to the Dean's List.
• Carly Mandel of Pembroke Pines, was named to the Dean's List.
• Corey Geffner of Weston, was named to the Dean's List.
• Floortje Justens of Weston, was named to the Dean's List.
• William Kelly of Weston, was named to the Dean's List.
• Samantha Klopman of Weston, was named to the Dean's List.

Alyssa Hayduk - Hollywood
Alyssa Hayduk of Hollywood, Florida was among the 1,703 students named to Samford University's 2021 Spring Semester's, Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must have earned a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average, out of a possible, 4.0, while attempting to have at least, 12 credit hours of coursework. The Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school, at the end, of each semester.

Leidy Iglesias - Biscayne Park
Leidy Iglesias of Biscayne Park, Florida was named to the Dean's List at Lehigh University in the Spring 2021 Semester. Dean's List status, which is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of a 3.6 or better, while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.

Production Award Recipient Melina Minaya
Melina Minaya of Miramar, Florida, received the Jean Bloomquist McBath Memorial Production Award in Studio Theatre from the Knox College Theatre Department at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. Minaya holds a major in Theatre and Music, she is a member, of the Class Of 2023. Founded in 1837, Knox College is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois. Knox enrolls students from nearly every state and more than 50 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building that is remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas Debates.
