
WMODA Hosts “Shining A Light On Connection” - To Honor International Museum Day Theme “Museums Uniting A Divided World”

On Sunday, May 17th, 2026, The Wiener Museum Of Decorative Arts (WMODA) Will Host "Shining A Light On Connection," A Community-Focused Celebration Highlighting Glass Art As A Medium For Social Connection, Shared Expression And Dedicated To The Transformative Power Of Art In Bridging Social Divides. The Program Features A Collective Toast To The Spirit Of Global Solidarity And The Closing Reception For The Amulets Of Light Installation.

When: Sunday, May 17th, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a special celebration at 1:00 p.m.
Where: Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) is located at 3250 North 29th Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33020.
Who: Highlighting the museum's role as a sanctuary of creativity and community partnership, WMODA is proud to host the following partners throughout the day of fun for all ages:
• Chelsea Rousso: Renowned local glass artist whose initiatives, Unity in the Community and Amulets of Light, demonstrate the strength of collective creativity.
• Kaleidoscopic Wonders: Collector Alan Tinter will introduce visitors to several pieces from his collection of 150 art kaleidoscopes, demonstrating how different perspectives can create infinite possibilities from diverse fragments.
Visual & Story Highlights (High-fidelity filming, gallery walkthroughs, & interviews)
• The "Shining a Light" Toast: Raising a glass to honor the creative potential within the community and the global spirit of solidarity while bidding farewell to the Amulets of Light exhibit.
• Glass Art Installations: A viewing of the Unity in the Community and Amulets of Light installations, which stand as a singular, powerful message of togetherness and the power of collective creativity.
• Interactive Art: Visitors can capture kaleidoscopic memories and view the “Mega Kaleidoscope” mosaic mural by Brooklyn-based Artist Allison Eden, handcrafted from over 1,000 glass colors.
• Interviews: Louise Irvine, WMODA Executive Director & Curator and Artist Chelsea Rousso are available to discuss the role of "Fired Arts" in fostering community unity.
Why It Matters
To honor the International Museum Day theme, "Museums Uniting a Divided World," by showcasing how art can provide the clarity and empathy necessary to bridge modern divides, to celebrate the beauty of diversity and the lasting bonds formed through collective creative expression. The event also celebrates the Broward County Cultural Division’s "50 and Forward" Anniversary, marking 50 years of artistic growth in the community.
