Acclaimed Restaurateur And Art Dealer Álvaro Perez Miranda, The Visionary Behind Miami’s Celebrated Hiyakawa (Featured On The Michelin Guide), Michelin-Starred Ogawa (Named The Highest-Rated Fine Dining Restaurant In America In 2025), As Well As The Much Anticipated Opening Of Emelina In West Palm Beach, Announces The Fourth Location Of His Popular Concept, Midorie, A Casual Japanese Restaurant Which Will Open In Fort Lauderdale This Summer.

Midorie, a testament to APM Restaurant Group’s commitment to culinary excellence, will open at 640 Northwest 7th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311, within The Arcadian, a transformational mixed-use development in the historic Sistrunk District that officially celebrated its grand opening in January 2026.

Midorie is the most approachable of Perez Miranda’s Japanese fine-dining concepts. The menu will consist of starters, donburi (Japanese bowls), a selection of the freshest sushi, nigiri, and temaki (hand rolls), and its popular $100 omakase with the chef’s selection of sushi and nigiri presented beautifully and all at once, making it the perfect power lunch, all-occasion dinner, or impressive takeout.

Midorie Fort Lauderdale will feature 50 seats in total, made up of an 8-seat sushi counter, a 34-seat dining room, and an intimate private dining room - The Sakura Room - which can host up to 8 guests. The restaurant will feature stunning artwork, including beautiful paintings by Venezuelan artist Rafael Rangel and a jaw-dropping 28-foot aluminum origami art piece that will extend from the entrance along the sushi counter, guiding guests into the dining room, all illuminated by custom Japanese lanterns that enhance the space’s ambiance.

“We are excited to announce the opening of our new Midorie location in Fort Lauderdale, where we are committed to delivering the same exceptional quality and authentic experience that our Miami restaurants are known for,” says Perez Miranda. “The Fort Lauderdale community deserves outstanding food in a beautiful and welcoming environment, and our new location at The Arcadian will provide a unique dining experience grounded in traditional Japanese techniques and the finest ingredients. We are dedicated to creating a new destination for the best Japanese cuisine, reflecting our profound commitment to kikubari - the Japanese art of caring for others.”

“When we were looking for the right restaurant partner for The Arcadian, we knew Midorie would be an ideal fit," said Eyal Peretz, founder and CEO of Fuse Group, developer of The Arcadian. "Álvaro's commitment to quality, authenticity and creating exceptional dining experiences aligns perfectly with our vision for the Sistrunk District. Midorie will bring a unique culinary destination to our residents and the broader Fort Lauderdale community, and we're proud to welcome a concept of this caliber to The Arcadian."

Midorie will be open for lunch and dinner with opening hours and the menu to be announced closer to opening.

Midorie is the vision of veteran restaurateur Alvaro Perez Miranda, Chef Hiro Asana, and Director of Operations and Sommelier Luis Martinez.

Álvaro Perez Miranda:

As founder of APM Restaurant Group, Álvaro Perez Miranda has cultivated a unique approach to hospitality through an uncompromising dedication to quality, authenticity, and attention to detail. Born in Venezuela, Perez Miranda studied art in the U.S. and Italy before moving to Tokyo. He spent a total of 15 years in Japan promoting Italian cuisine, eventually producing, building and managing more than 70 restaurant projects..

Perez Miranda opened his first Japanese restaurant, the casual sushi bowl eatery Wabi Sabi, in 2018, followed by the upscale Hiyakawa two years later. By 2023, APM had added two more concepts, both in partnership with master sushi chef Masayuki Komatsu: Midorie, a sister establishment to Wabi Sabi, and Ogawa, a 12-seat omakase sushi experience inspired by Osaka’s kappo-style cuisine.

Across all of APM’s concepts, Perez Miranda has worked tirelessly to manifest the highest standard of Japanese culinary artistry in Miami, adopting Japanese principles such as omotenashi (mindful hospitality), komakai (fine attention to detail), and sensai (sensitivity) in pursuit of a perfectly authentic experience. This extends not only to ingredients – painstakingly sourced from across Japan, particularly Tokyo’s Toyosu fish market and Ibaraki prefecture – but to treating guests with the utmost care and warmth, making them feel as comfortable and at home as if they were at the home of a cherished friend. Through his art business Blackship Gallery, Perez Miranda has also been able to place stunning artworks in each restaurant, commissioned by the celebrated Japanese artists in his portfolio.

All of this has earned Perez Miranda and his businesses extraordinary accolades. He was named a Goodwill Ambassador for Japanese Cuisine by the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, the first U.S. Latino to hold such an honor, in 2023. In 2024 Perez Miranda was appointed Culinary Ambassador of Ibaraki, the largest agricultural prefecture in Japan, known widely for the finest products including Hitachi Wagyu and Ibaraki melon, by the governor of Ibaraki Mr. Oigawa.

In 2024, Perez Miranda’s latest project, Ogawa earned a Michelin Star in its first year of operation and was named the highest rated fine dining restaurant in America. In January 2026 Perez Miranda will open his first non-Japanese concept in South Florida, Emelina, a 16-seat counter serving a Cuban tasting menu in partnership with rising star Chef Osmel Gonzalez (Entrenos, 1 Michelin Star, Michelin Green Star) and his wife Chef Camila Salazar.
