The Florida Kiwanis Foundation has awarded a $6,000 Grant to the Kiwanis Club of Hallandale Beach who will match the Grant with an equal sum. The Grant money will fund a Mobile Service Center that will be portable at several locations within the City meeting the needs of deserving children and staffed by both The Kiwanis Club and The Police Activity League.

One targeted Beneficiary will be the students enrolled at Gulfstream Academy that require a standard uniform shirt and we intend to ensure that every student will be outfitted regardless of the family’s financial situation.

The Kiwanis Club Of Hallandale Beach and The Police Activity League previously jointly partnered in a highly successful program at Gulfstream Academy named “Imagine It’s You” that stressed the concepts of kindness and empathy denouncing bullying activity.

Initially, The Kiwanis Club Of Hallandale planned on supplying 500 polo shirts to the students at Gulfstream Academy bearing the school’s logo providing all students with a sense of belonging and raising their self-esteem. This builds on the mantra that one must learn to dress for success.

Jonathan Carrillo, Program Director for The Police Activity League states that “the new mobile booth will serve as a highly visible location to gather knowledge about citywide events and various opportunities and schedules.”

Both organizations plan to cater to questions commonly asked by residents regarding where to seek medical care, insurance and tax preparation as well as city sponsored programs and events.

The successful sustainability of this program will also rely on corporate donations and financial generosity from the residents. We are clearly a Not-For-Profit Organization and all revenues generated from the center will be reinvested for the benefit of the children.

Research has shown that the average teacher must personally spend approximately $550 annually to meet the shortfall in school supplies in the classroom and we aim to assist in relieving a portion of that burden.

The Grant will also help in developing proprietary software that will enable inquiries regarding non commercial social services to be easily attained.

The Hallandale Beach Police Activity League proudly boasts that it has obtained its own building located on Foster Road and the community is invited to participate in a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.

In closing, we seek the generosity from our local merchants as all donations made payable to our 501C3 Foundation named The HB Kiwanis Project, INC are Tax Deductible.
