Aventura City Of Excellence School students will showcase a dedication with art as well as dance performances. The City will also recognize local businesses and residential communities by presenting them with 2023 Aventura GO Green Recognition Awards for their efforts to reduce energy consumption and encourage sustainability. The City’s GO Green campaign encourages all City departments and the community to practice environmental sustainability by making responsible decisions that reduce negative impacts on the environment, save energy and lower operational costs.

Why Become A Tree City USA Community?
Started in 1976, Tree City USA is one of The Arbor Day Foundation’s oldest programs. The founders had a vision for a greener, healthier America and hoped this initiative would inspire change on a nationwide level. The first Tree City USA cohort comprised of 42 communities in 16 states. Today, the program includes more than 3,600 communities from all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.

The benefits of becoming a Tree City USA is to create a thriving urban forest which offers many advantages to communities. Here are just a few: Trees help absorb the sounds of traffic in urban areas by 40%. Neighborhoods with trees are seven to nine degrees cooler than those without. Trees reduce energy costs up to 25% by shading buildings and protecting them from winter winds. Homes with trees have higher property values. Green space plays a major role in improving mental and physical health. Plus, planting and maintaining trees absorbs Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere, mitigating the effects of climate change.

The City of Aventura’s Community Services Department carefully planned and prepared this event with guidelines to safely protect the health and welfare of the community it serves. Please be advised that details may be subject to change due to any updated safety restrictions and guidelines.

Trees & Climate
Climate change is the biggest challenge facing the health of our planet and while it will take many solutions working together to make a difference, trees are the proven, affordable, natural way that can be implemented quickly to pull Carbon Dioxide out of the atmosphere today. Every tree planted is a step in the right direction.
