"Move It, Move It!" To Shows The Entire Family Will Enjoy

Favorite stories from movies, TV and children’s books come to life onstage as Slow Burn Theatre Company and the The Bahamas Imagination Series present shows the entire family will enjoy at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and The Parker.

One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way. Cameron Macintosh and Disney’s Mary Poppins comes to the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in the Slow Burn Theatre Company Production from Saturday, March 25th, 2023 - Sunday, April 9th, 2023. Everyone's favorite, practically-perfect nanny will take audiences on a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure. Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins, the musical delighted Broadway audiences during more than 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Get ready to experience an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft that will mesmerize audiences of all ages. The 2022/2023 Slow Burn Theatre Season is presented by American National Bank. Performance times vary. Tickets start at $49. The matinee performance on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 at 1 p.m. will be open captioned in which a text display located to the side of the stage scrolls words in synchronization with the performance. A sensory-inclusive performance intended for kids and adults on the Autism Spectrum as well as individuals with other sensitivity issues or Developmental Disabilities will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. with tickets priced at $20 with $5 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger. The Broward Center's sensory-inclusive programming is made possible through the generous support of The Batchelor Foundation, JAFCO Children's Ability Center, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and The Taft Foundation.

Stone Soup comes to the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts this April in two exciting audience experiences. In this heartwarming musical adaptation of the classic European folktale of trickery and friendship, Peter, a hungry sailor, has no luck getting a free meal from the stingy citizens of a tiny village so he decides to turn the table. He invites the villagers to enjoy his famous delicious Stone Soup whose recipe is known only to seafarers and legendary adventurers. He promises to provide the main ingredient if the villagers provide all the other ingredients. Join Peter and his trusty parrot, Admiral, as they teach the villagers a lesson in friendship and sharing. JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee performances are Friday, April 28th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. with tickets at $10 and $3 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger. Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Presents the Family Fun Series performances of Stone Soup on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with tickets that include pre-show activities at $16 in advance and $18 the day of the performance with $3 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger.

Slow Burn Theatre Company’s 2022/2023 Season in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts culminates with the Tony Award-Winning Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical, from Saturday, June 10th, 2023 - Sunday, June 25th, 2023. Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right. Based on the 1992 Motion Picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award Winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs "Carrying The Banner," "Seize The Day" and "Santa Fe," Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills perfect for the whole family. The 2022/2023 Slow Burn Theatre Season is presented by American National Bank. Performance times vary. Tickets are $49-$65.

Audiences will “Move It, Move It!” to get tickets for Madagascar The Musical in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria bound out of the zoo and onto the stage in this live musical spectacular. This brand new musical from Dreamworks (Shrek The Musical) features everyone’s favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. This family friendly event is part of The Islands of The Bahamas Imagination Series. Tickets are $29.50-$55.00 with $10 Lap Tickets for children 12 months of age and younger and $110 VIP Tickets that include a Meet And Greet with the cast.

The Islands of The Bahamas Imagination Series continues as fans of all ages spend time with Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli as they’ve never seen them before in Bluey’s Big Play in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 and Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day. Based on an original new story Written by Bluey Creator Joe Brumm and Music by Bluey Composer Joff Bush, the Heelers first live theater show features puppetry, live actors and iconic sets. Tickets are $25-$74.50.
