Affecting Island Boulevard and Northeast 183rd Street

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is continuing an improvement construction project in Aventura to replace existing wastewater lines. The project is expected to be completed by March of 2022. There has been an update for street closures, that may affect you.

Full Project Description:
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) began their improvement construction project in Aventura on Monday, April 19th, 2021 to replace existing wastewater lines along Island Boulevard and Northeast 183rd Street from Biscayne Boulevard, east to Williams Island.

To enhance the reliability of the wastewater system, the Department will be upgrading the water and sewer infrastructure by replacing existing wastewater lines with new lines. One of these projects is new 12-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch wastewater lines on Island Boulevard - Northeast 183rd Street from PS No. 0499 to Biscayne Boulevard, they will replace existing 8-inch, 12-inch and 18-inch wastewater lines. The upgrade of these lines, has been expedited to enhance the reliability of the wastewater system. Most of the construction work, will occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There may be some night work, when necessary. The project is expected to be completed by March of 2022.

Impact to traffic in the affected areas, started on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021.

• Eastbound lanes between Northeast 27th Avenue and Northeast 31st Avenue, will be closed, eastbound traffic will be detoured using Northeast 185th Street.
• Westbound lanes between Northeast 31st Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard, will be reopened to traffic.

Please be advised that to expedite this project, the contractor has been permitted to work extended hours Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. When necessary, the contractor may work, nights and weekends.

All attempts will be made to alleviate vehicular congestion with well-defined detours and the contractor will take all of the necessary steps to minimize impacts, to maintain access in and out of the abutting properties. The final road restoration, the milling and resurfacing, will take place, at the end of the project.
